Salka Valka Eldhús/kitchen - Reykjavik

Love love eating! Very recommended by our owner Sandra. The fish soup is the best we have cost (we have cost more than 4 to date). Starter, herring on rye bread tasted heavenly. The fish soup had added paprika that gave it a unique taste. The fish stew was a surprise with fragrant Basmati rice. We had a nice, relaxing and delicious dinner after a day of the Golden Circle Tour.

This small restaurant was found during the walk in Iceland. The fish stew is so tasteful and the lamb is cooked until the meat was solid, but fall from the bone. The service was fast and accommodating that we had to come back the next day. I finished my lunch with a Baileys coffee. And paired my lamb with the draft of the day. A must to stop when in town.

Salka Valka eldhús was such a wonderful surprise. We decided to stop in here on a whim and were happy we did. It's a cozy little place with pleasant aromas that greet you as soon as you walk through the door. They do not accept reservations due to how small their restaurant is but do not let that deter you. We were still able to walk in and get a table right away. We started off by getting the plaice for an appetizer. My husband and I each got our own orders of the fish stew. The only downside was that there was not enough of the fish stew as that was absolutely amazing. We were half tempted to get another order because of how good it was but we were trying to contain ourselves and also wanted to have room for the bar we were heading to. We definitely will make this a stop the next time we are coming through Reykjavik and you should as well.

Must eat here, excellent local Icelandic foods. Friendly atmosphere service. Prices are very reasonable. Portions more than sufficient. Very recommended.

We hadn't booked a table, but the staff was great to accommodate us, we just had to wait a while until we were laid. Simple menu, but the food was hearty and delicious with good portion sizes. Nothing beautiful and staff was really friendly, great place for a casual dinner.
