Food was fine. Lots of mosquitos drove us out of the place early. Food was as expected and location was great--we sat by the lake and had a great view of the castle. Convenient as we were staying at the castle.
The restaurant is very small, most likely 7-8 tables inside so a reservation in advance is advised. The menu offers a variety from local to international dishes. While we were studying the menu the chef visited our table and suggested to try the tapas menu which was a 7 course menu of smaller versions of the main dishes including a selection of the desserts. We tried the tapas menu and can recommend it without hesitation. Both waiter and chef were very charming, helpful and provided us information for each dish that we got. An advantage when having a small restaurant is that the staff really cares about every guest. The atmosphere is awesome, sitting in a 1000 year old castle, nice music and lovely decoration. Inside the castle is also a Boutique Hotel.
This is not really a fully braided restaurant for hotel guests. The hotel has only a small number of rooms and the restaurant is mainly for guests to have breakfast. We stayed three nights at the hotel. Breakfast was rich in meat, cheese, fruit, cereals and bread. You can also have fried eggs or simple eggs. Very nice.
I never write bad reviews, but this time I decided to take some time to write the review (mostly for the information for the owners of the hotel). We decided to visit this beautiful authentic castle on the way back from skiing for one night. I liked the photos of the castle, information about the beautiful spa area and the restaurant. The first problem was no answer for the whole day from the hotel to the e-mail I wrote to them. Therefore, I had to find the internet and use an online booking service to book the hotel. We arrived in the evening (about 19:30). The lady at the reception told us that the spa and the restaurants were already closed. I think a 4-star hotel should be able to offer a kind of food at 8:00!!! We asked about the spa area and she answered that it only opens after 2 a.m., but if we wanted to use it earlier in the morning, then they could let us in, but for additional fee (it should be free for the guests). So we decided to go to a restaurant to eat after 6 hours drive. When we came back to the hotel, the door was locked and the pass code that the lady gave us at the reception does not work. So we had to stand and wait outside (it was minus 7 degrees btw) to ring the bell and try to communicate with a non-English speaking person. Then I tried to call her phone number and finally a man answered and told me everything worked and I should just press the code. So five minutes, we're freezing and finally they're gonna open the door from inside. The man who was inside said only that the door works well and that they just gave us a wrong code!!! He didn't even apologize. So to add it: no restaurant, no spa, no simple briefing or greeting from the reception lady over the hotel (usually if we stay in historic places, we get a good introduction and even a short tour), not even an excuse for us waiting for 10 minutes outside. It was the worst customer service I ever saw in a 4-star hotel (also 3 star hotels offer much better service). From the castle itself it looked really nice and the room was very good.
