Przekaż informację zwrotnąFive of us visited Gasthof Schuessel this last Saturday evening. We had a wonderful evening with excellent food and service. Firstly, I loved the food, its high quality, freshly made Swiss dishes with a stamp of personality from the chef. I had the calves liver in Maderia sauce with Rosti....absolutely delicious. Others in our group had the steak or the fish and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a simple sorbet for dessert and it was perfect. The service from Thomas is attentive, friendly and welcoming, a real professional who clearly loves what he does. In addition he was supported by a young women who I believe is the daughter of the owner, she too was excellent. This is a great restaurant with the perfect balance between a formal and relaxed environment which makes everyone welcome. I hope to return when next in Basel.
If you are going to pay Swiss prices, you might as well get some really good homemade food and attentive service. The cordon bleu here is top notch. Took my wife here for a rare occasion when kids were out of town, following a motorcycle ride through some hills and a bunch of cows. Great experience. The restaurant was also wonderful. Thanks.
Christmas Day! There were no festive decorations to be found inside the restaurant. No holiday atmosphere. Limited items on the menu. We ate in the gourmet part of the restaurant. Since there was only 2 appetizers on the menu which did not appeal to me, I ordered a mixed salad. Nice presentation and good dressing. Than all 3 of us had the goose breast for the main course. The temperature of the breast was cooked to perfection however it was sliced wrong (with the grain) and you couldn't cut it with a sharp knife. An old piece of chewing gum would have been more tender. It was served the braised red cabbage and some fine grain dumplings. The dumplings were bland. I tried just a very small bit of those item on my plate and did not eat any further. The food was presented well and so were the plates that passed by out tables. We told the service personal right away. They offered to put the meat back in the pan and cook it again. I know as a chef the is not a solution. One of my guests ate dessert (which was offered by the restaurant). The service was professional and attentive. Bathroom were very clean.
Ich muss dem Küchenchef Stefan Minsel ein riesiges Kompliment aussprechen. Das Essen war ein wahrer Genuss. Als Vorspeise gab es ein Rindscarpaccio mit Trüffelvinaigrette...
