There was plenty of space throughout the night and we were seated quickly. We had to walk up to the front and order (and pay in advance), but there was still table service for water, which was a little confusing. We shared two main dishes and an app which ended up being ~40pp. The food was decent and it was good ambience, but it is on the pricier end for me. Worth trying this place for authentic Indonesian food in the bay area but I probably wouldn't be coming back super often.
1) counter ordering was weird for a place like this 2) sitting shoulder to shoulder with others at a communal table was also weird 3) portions were small for a place with #1 2 above 4) some dishes were just too spicy to eat (and I like heat) 5) salad dish was raw leafy greens with nothing on it Would not return to this place.
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and the service was extremely friendly. I even had the opportunity to meet the owner and head chef. My only criticism is that the prices seemed a little high, especially considering the portion sizes. There was also a bit of a wait to get a table.
We had some friends visiting from LA and decided to give this restaurant a try for a new dining experience. We all reminisced about our favorite Indonesian spot back in LA. The atmosphere was nice, with large communal tables and individual seating options, and the restaurant was bustling on a Friday evening. Service was fast, with customers ordering at the counter. For our meal, we tried the corn fritters, shrimp satay, beef brisket, seafood noodles, and turmeric rice. The dishes were decent, but some were a bit lacking - like the brisket coming without rice. Overall, the general consensus was that the food was okay. It was an interesting and unique experience, but not somewhere we would necessarily recommend to out-of-town guests or go out of our way to dine at again.
This restaurant is a bit unique in that you order your food and drinks at the counter before being seated. The prices are on the higher side, and the portions are small, so you may end up spending around $100 for two people. We tried the Mie Saus Padang noodles, which came highly recommended by other Yelp reviewers. The noodles and sauce were delicious and flavorful, though the seafood quality was average. Overall, the food was of good quality.
