Flatiron - RED HOOK

When we visited this restaurant, we found that the menu was quite limited. The food, drinks, and service were decent, but not exceptional. We may consider giving it another shot, as our experience was marred by the presence of an incredibly self-important, self-absorbed, and rude individual seated next to us. This person spoke loudly about her grievances, making it difficult for us to enjoy our meal. It's rare for something to truly ruin our dining experience, but this certainly did.

The food was outstanding. The homemade pasta was made with fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly.

Without a doubt, the chimichurri here is the best I've ever had the pleasure of drizzling over perfectly seared beef. The drinks and desserts are also fantastic – especially the strawberry souffle, which is served in no time at all. Definitely worth a visit.

If you like lamb, you have to try the lamb burger. My husband loved it. The mushroom appetizer was very good.

I have ordered take out at Flat iron multiple times over the last few years. I have been dining out for the last 47 years and I have never had experience like I had tonight. I ordered fries and a glass of wine while waiting for my mashed potatoes to takehome, as I was leaving and paying my bill the bar tender ? Lee A.? went out of his way to give me the smallest change possibleafter I handed him a $100. I was handed back EIGHT PENNIES. I have never heard of this happening in my 47 years of dining out.What a disrespectful bartender. I still gave him a 15% tip and left an extra nickel with the EIGHT Pennie?s so that he doesn?thaven?t to do this to the next customer. What an experience, wow.
