Red Star Chinese Restaurant - Red Deer

I have eaten at this restaurant with my family many times. My favorites are Lemon Chicken and Ginger Beef. The food is well prepared and there is always left overs to take home.

So glad we tried this place, it really is the best Chinese food I've had in Red Deer. The food was served fresh hot and fast.The service was excellent. The place was spotless, well lit and nicely decorated. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

I have ate here about 4 times in the last year and every time it was really good. The King Pao was the best. Would recommend this place.

The atmosphere was unpleasant, cold. We waited at least, 35 minutes for two dishes and a bowl of steamed rice. My order was a vegetarian dish. It had large chunks of onion, the only thing that appeared to be cooked. The broccoli, very large pieces and raw. Difficulty cutting it into bite size pieces. No flavor. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

What clearly used to be a gem is so bad now. I have to say the food was really good. BUT the service is so horribly bad and the place so poorly run that the food is just not worth the experience otherwise. From having to beg for water (we were the only people there, this should not have been a chore) to feeling like crawling under the table when they let the phone just keep on ringing, there was just nothing done right. It doesn't help that the decor has clearly had its day. To make matters worse, what appeared to be the owner.. sat at a table with a salesman who audibly explained how the place can do better on the bottom line by using other napkins etc. Honestly... by giving decent service the bottom line being spared by cheaper napkins would be far less an issue. So bad.
