Great little takeout place for a dog, sandwich or one of his homemade soups that change everyday.
Amazing sandwiches and a quaint, nice atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again.
If you're looking for a great little eatery, look no further than That Hot Dog Place in Red Bank! Their impressive hot dogs and absolutely delicious soups are what keeps me coming back time and time again. When someone tells you to visit this place, trust me, it's some of the best advice you might receive in your life! Despite its name, this spot is no joke; it's often hailed as one of the top lunch destinations in Central New Jersey, and it's easy to see why. Owned and operated by the very talented Soupmeister, Gary, this establishment is a must-visit for any soup enthusiast, especially for those living in the Northeast. Although finding the restaurant was a little tricky on my first visit, I quickly learned it’s nestled in a charming alley between another building and an Irish pub. The small size of the shop only enhances its charm, embodying the spirit of a proud small business making a name for itself. Upon entering, you're greeted by Gary, who is always cheerful and full of positive energy. He has this incredible ability to turn any stranger into a regular customer with his warm conversation and dedication to providing a fantastic lunch experience. Whenever I'm there, I can't resist getting a soup along with a quarter-pound hot dog. Even though I don't work nearby, I find myself making a special trip just to enjoy his daily soups. Gary typically offers three or four freshly made soups each day, and he sends out an email the night before with the options that'll entice you to visit. Recently, I savored a Manhattan-style clam chowder that was absolutely delightful, bursting with tender clams and complemented by a rich tomato broth and fresh vegetables. I've also relished his New England clam chowder and the chicken pot pie, which is definitely my favorite. Trust me, no one can outdo the Soupmeister! You can get a 12 oz cup of soup and a hot dog for just $8. Gary doesn’t accept credit or debit cards, and honestly, I admire that he keeps his earnings intact without paying commission. Cash is the only form of payment, so be sure to bring some along, especially if you’re tempted to order seconds! Honestly, a soup and a hot dog is the perfect amount for lunch, especially at that price. So, the next time someone suggests you check out That Hot Dog Place, or if you're in the mood for fresh, homemade soup, look no further. The one person you need to meet is Gary, the Soupmeister himself! I wholeheartedly recommend this place as one of the best lunchtime spots in the Northeast!
Gary offers not only some of the most delightful stories and local insights but also the finest homemade soups, sandwiches, and hot dogs in town. My favorite lunch option is the $8 deal for a 12-ounce soup and a half sandwich—it's unbeatable!
