Although I have lived in tilehurst for several years, this was my first visit. Despite some reviews, I thought that the service was welcome. the food we ordered was delicious, but I accept that it is somewhat more expensive than some other Indian restaurants. they are perfect in order when they roast in their own drink, now I have eaten them as soon as I be happy to pay a return.
Living locally I have always been aware of the awards this place lists but never quite found time to visit. An offer from the parents to buy dinner was too good to miss so I booked us in. Calm, tranquil surroundings, good service, amazing food!...I had the king prawn saag which is one of the more “basic” dishes. The prawns were huge and had been chargrilled, just gorgeous. And the serving dishes were really interesting, stood out for being different which suggested that extra level of investment in the diners. We all loved the food, mum took forever to eat hers and the staff kept coming to clear the plates then realised she was still eating and backed away! The hot towels after eating are a nice touch too the not many places offer any more. A thoroughly delightful experience all round.
Easily the best curry I've ever had in my life. The meat is cooked perfectly and not too tough as you can sometimes get in curry, the sauce is delicious and not too greasy, and all the staff are just fantastic. Zyka is the bar...I judge all other curry against. I only wish I lived closer so I could go more often.
We’ve been coming to Zyka and ordering takeaway for the past couple of years, and the food has always been great. However, our last takeaway order was not good. The chicken korma sauce was so thick and didn’t taste very nice. The meat, both chicken...and lamb, were tough and dry. It seems that they have a different chef.
