Brouwerij Van Oelegem - Ranst

Formerly known as Restaurant Den Bol, it used to be expensive. The owner passed the business on and still worked in the kitchen. For a while, there was no other good restaurant in the area with affordable prices. We used to be regular guests and had no complaints. Several owners came and went, and things went downhill until recently when a new boss, who works in the kitchen, took over. Much needed, as the previous owner thought he could make it in our village with fancy prices. After staying away for five or seven years, we decided to visit last week. The interior had changed little, the food was still decent at 8:25 pm, prices slightly higher, but the owner and staff were friendly and we had a delicious meal of scampi in curry with tasty dark bread. A 50cl carafe of white wine at 17.50 EUR was a bit pricey. The farm ice cream for dessert was unexpectedly delicious. The prices for supplements and desserts were unusually high. We will probably return in the future. Not to be overlooked in good weather: the large outdoor terrace.

We had a very delicious meal, value for money was definitely good! The service was friendly and the owner even came to check if everything was okay. It was tasty!

Awful experience! The pasta had a strange sauce and was bland, the wrap lacked filling, the ribs tasted weird, and the wok dish was underwhelming. The tiramisu was more like whipped cream with hard bits. Overall, we didn't enjoy any of the dishes and would not recommend ordering from this restaurant.

The meal was decently prepared by a waitress. The dinner had a pleasant atmosphere inside. We made a reservation through vivabox. They mentioned that we could choose from the menu, but we were disappointed when we were only allowed to have a specific dessert. We ordered two steaks, even though the server had not mentioned the option of lamb filet. When we inquired about it later, we were told it would cost an extra 2 euros, which we found disappointing. It seemed like they were trying to make extra money off of us. Despite the decent service, we felt that the restaurant was not offering any additional perks. It was not very busy, so we expected better service. Overall, we were not satisfied with our experience, especially since we had limited options due to using vivabox. Next time, we would rather pay a little extra for a meal we truly enjoy.

The wait staff takes a while to eat, but they are friendly towards customers. The service is decent, but be aware that there may be delays in food delivery as the staff can be a bit inattentive.
