Tookies Grill - Raleigh

Tookie's is an excellent sandwich shop that is family-owned and operated. The only downside is that they are closed on Mondays.

When I finally received my sandwich, I noticed it had barely any chicken salad on it. In the past, the older lady, who is usually behind the counter, would generously fill the sandwich with chicken salad, but that wasn’t the case this time. I paid $11 for it and felt like I was shortchanged. To make matters worse, the younger lady was also shouting at the older lady, who happens to be the owner. They really need to improve her training in customer service and how to make their "famous Tookie chicken salad sandwich" properly. I'm very disappointed. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place when the younger lady is working, unless you enjoy eating mostly bread.

The chicken salad didn't live up to the hype. It was the classic version, featuring eggs, pickles, and possibly some celery. However, there was an unexpected sweetness to it that I wasn't a fan of. While the flavor didn't suit my taste, I do have to commend the generous portion size and excellent service. I might consider returning on a Thursday to try the chicken and pastry.

Debra has catered so much for my family. Our daughter just got married and they provided a number of amazing desserts for after the rehearsal. She also made egg casseroles and fresh ham biscuits to serve our family the day after the wedding. Everything was delicious and amazing! She thinks of all of the details and even provides dishes/platters if needed. Thanks Tookies. You’re the best!!

This is a nice grill and appears to be family owned. They are famous for their chicken salad but i love a hot dog and crinkle cut fries from there just as much. Very nice place to get a quick lunch. Note, cash only......no credit cards
