Bloomsbury Bistro - Raleigh

Food was fantastic. Had the butternut squash bisque, grilled salmon, and peppermint cheesecake. All were great! Ambience is nice with it being a small place, but it gets loud very easily, making conversation hard at times.

We went on a Monday so it was less busy more quiet. But the food was DELISH!! and service was great.

I was seated for dinner at the time I reserved. Ordered a decent bottle of Pinot Noir which was brought right out and served by Becca with skilled assurance. My Caesar salad with anchovies was truly one of the best I’ve had in recent memory …they aren’t phoning this in. The dinner menu changes seasonally, so mentioning that my grilled salmon served over couscous and topped with spinach and sun dried tomatoes was delicious may not be helpful. I had a tawny port to finish, and a bite of my companion’s crème brûlée. If you have room, of recommend both. One thing that I really appreciate is that I was not rushed to turn over the table. The courses were paced to arrive just as we were finishing the prior one. That made for a nice dining experience rather than just a meal.

Service and food were both excellent, and we won't hesitate to return.

I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend to others. The place was drab, service was sad and apathetic, and food was not at all good enough to justify the price. A “medium rare” steak came out practically raw. The mashed potato filling inside the croquettes had better flavor than the mashed potatoes served with the entrees. To top it all off, my water glass was chipped on the rim and cut the inside of my lip when I took a sip. Really disappointed all around.
