Our year old had a kids meal and absolutely stank of garlic afterwards ..how can this happen? The location and the restaurant is good, but cannot compensate for the food and service. Very disappointing.
I visited this restaurant on the last day of our holiday Saturday, August with my husband, son and friend. after eating delectable food all week we were hoping Our final meal would be memorable we sat outside in the wonderful surroundings, and from the...lady waitress ordered three glasses of sect ,a tomato mozzarella salad (caprese) for the three of us to share as a starter and then we each had a main course , we waited a long time for the sekt, when the mozzarella starter arrived it seemed the message hadn't been passed on that it was a starter for us to share as it was just one plate and no cutlery , we asked the gentleman for three small plates and more cutlery and napkins and he seemed to ignore us , our German friend (who lives in radebeul asked again as he was clearing the table beside us, he replied: I heard you the first time I am bringing them I've never ever experienced anyone so rude, and I visit endless restaurants. unfortunately this worsened and the food wasn't good at all , the mozzarella was the type put on pizzas and the aubergine bake was a mushy tasteless mess we ate in some amazing places during our weeks stay, we holiday in Dresden every year, i certainly wont be going back to this establishment I hope if the owners aren't english speaking, this complaint is translated as it was an unfriendly and disappointing end to our holiday The rude man evidently needs to consider an alternative job as he's not suited to this one
Since a few years i know this lates call it historical place; specially for breakfast. They offer very tasty breakfast-buffett and great coffee. Most of the times the service is super friendly. In summer guests can sit outside under ancient trees. Awesome is...their menu card: written in form of a news-paper, which you may take as a souvenir.
Ocasionally we are leaving our hometown Dresden to go have lunch in nearby Radebeul. The Alte Apotheke is well-known and used to have good food. However, the last few times we've been there we left with regret because the food didn't manage to satisfy at all. For example the steak with baked potato was chewy and had a weird taste to it; the pasta with mozarella cheese and cherry tomatoes was greasy and the noodles stuck together. The child's dish saxonia pancakes was way too greasy to give to a child. The service was and is still good. Because of the bad food, though, I cannot recommend this place!
By a friend, who lives in Radebeul, we were advised not to eat in Dresden but to try Alte Apotheke' in Radebeul to have original, down-to-earth food. When we entered the place we were very happy to find such a place, full of locals, eating...and chatting. We ordered two soups, Solianka (which my Ukrainian girlfriend rated higher than the Solianka back home) and the poatoe soup with sausage. I had the Sauerbraten' with dumplings (wonderful) and my girlfriend the Schweinehaxe'. I tried it and I have to say it was juicy and the skin as it should be, perfect. For a local food experience this is really the place to go.
