They're a small spot amidst Tomas Morato that's budget-friendly, good on serving size, and definitely a must-try on your list of food trips.
Another hole-in-the-wall that we keep passing is Salty. Located along the ever-changing foodie haven of Tomas Morato, this is found across Pan De Manila along Sct Gandia. No designated parking, but you can see your car from inside the store. We were there on a Saturday afternoon. We weren't even sure if it was open the place was deserted. No one in sight. Since we were already there, I went inside and called out. Only then did one of the staff go out and welcome us into the store. She was nice but she was barely able to give us recommendations. I wasn't sure if I believed her reco; I ended up not ordering what she recommended for coffee. She was nice but had a super soft voice. I'm not sure if she was shy? Anyway, we ordered the mozzarella en carrosa to start us off. If you do want to check this place out, don't do so when you are super hungry or in a hurry. The food takes soooooo long to be served. This is a great dish to try. It's like breaded mozzarella sandwiches that are deep fried for crunch. Worth a try definitely. My husband ordered the waffles, spam and apples there were like slivers of spam on the side. It tasted okay, according to him; bitin lang. I had the salted egg pasta, which I thought tasted good. Umay sets in, despite their addition of bacon bits. Best if shared. The servings were kind of small. As the food was served, I placed an additional order for buffalo wings. No option to order it sans rice though, which was not too business savvy. You are boxing it into a main dish, without leaving the customers the option to get it on top of their orders. Anyway, we lost our appetite for it because it took sooooo long to be served. It was pretty good though, paired with that bleu cheese dip...Service was very lacking. The staff were mostly inside the kitchen. You had to stand up, get things yourself because they don't go out even if you call out. Their cash register is in danger because of this habit. Plus customers can just walk out without paying. Maybe the staff needs more training to be more confident in making recommendations and explaining the menu items? Anyway, it was not an unpleasant experience at all. The food was good, albeit the servings being small. Store's ambience was nice too.

There is always a good place to dinate at every corner of tomas morato and one of them is salty, a newly opened restaurant right at the corner of scout gandia and scout tobias. I thought they were selling only savory or salty dishes, but as much as possible they wanted to bring the best choice of comfort to eat, there is that our pinoy taste budds certainly from breakfast meal times, at midday meal times and eats, call it the place is well ventilated and cool and they even have a pronounced al fresco area for people who smoke. I like the color tones that they used to cover the entire space including the tables, as they look modern and yet simple cool ambiente so we started with the...read more
