What a surprise!! Not the same Pho Hoa that I'm accustomed to. What brought me back to Pho hoa was their authentic flavour of the broth and other specialties like their rice spring rolls. But this location failed to deliver on all points. The broth was very bland and had no flavour at all. It tasted like beef bouillon flavoured water with noodles. If the name of the place has "Pho" in it, it better be damn good but unfortunately not here. We will come back to see if it improves.
After a stressful start to the day (it was Friday!), my officemates and I decided to delve in Vietnamese food. This is a far cry from the Korean and Japanese food I've been having lately. Here goes my review. Food. 4.5/5 As was my custom, I ordered a chicken meal, Com Ga nuong Cha Glo (grilled chicken and spring rolls with rice). The chicken itself tasted ordinary, just like any grilled chicken in other restaurants. However, the taste levelled up when I dipped it in the Viet spicy sauce (I forgot the name unfortunately). The spice is unreal it made my head sweat untimely. Whew. Aside from the chicken meal, my companions and I shared a helping of their Chiem Nam Meo (breaded mushroom) and Gol Cuon (spring rolls). The mushroom was awesome! Though it tasted like an ordinary Filipino junkfood, it was really great. The spring rolls I didn't really appreciate that much because of its seafood element. On the plus side, the spring rolls was like a burst of colors in the mouth with its varioua elements. Good thing the crab didn't overwhelm my senses. Had it been otherwise, I might've regurgitated in no time. The spring roll dip was also good. Ambiance. 3.5/5 The place felt a bit too hot. It seems that thr airconditioning unit wasn't working, or is probably too old. The place was also a bit too cramped, it was a bit difficult navigating through the varioua tables. Service. 3.5/5 It was really disappointing. The service was a bit slow. I had to wait for a while for my food considering we weren't informed how long it'll take to serve. Although it was a Friday lunchtime, the place wasn't as full but our server was also giving us poor service. Our simple requests, like service water took a while to get served. Price. 3/5 Although the food was good, the price didn't justify it. Spending 295 for the grilled chicken to me is a bit too much even though there was nothing spectacular about it. And ugh, that service, really disappointing.
