I like dem Vietnamese subs a lot hence i made it a point to swing by Gateway before i head to 'Kina last Saturday. The plan was to get banh mi but i got hit by Foodie Fickle Mindedness (noun. A disease that is commonly found on foodies. A sudden pang of indecisive behavior over food) In short, i got some banh mi for takeaway and a regular sized lemon grass pho. | Lemon Grass Pho. This is mediocre. The broth is seasoned well and the chicken is cooked properly. Why mediocre? I wasn't wowed. I inadvertently made a nonchalant shrug after the first spoonful. Banh Mi. I forgot the variant i got. I gotta be honest, i've had better. The baguette they used needs tons of improvement. I got my sub to go so the texture of the bread is a lil too chewy for my liking. And yes, I should put em in the toaster but the common household appliance is not at my disposal at that time. My point is, the baguette should be good on it own, no toasting necessary. Think Bon Banh Mi or BMK. Three stars for now.

Try their BBQ and Lemongrass Chicken Bahn Mi. They're absolutely the best! They also had Pho noodles available. They're also very fantastic aside from affordably priced. Nice ambiance, well lighted and comfy chairs. Eat here and you will.come back for more. angtakawko.blogspot.com
Not authentic. Pho tasted so flat... nothing very surprising to the tastebud. Ambience and staff are not so welcoming. They look like they have been working for 3 straight weeks..
Whenever I hear the word Banh Mi, I know I should and must try it. So I just found this Banh Mi place right next to the Movie theater ticket area of Gateway Mall. It's a very cute spot with refreshing looking interiors that contrasts Gateway's dark entertainment center. Inside, a counter greets you with menus on their LCD screens. The photographs of their food are quite enticing. I asked what is the bestseller, the staff responded that it was the Lemongrass Chicken. I asked what was the difference between the 125 vs. 145 version. She said the lower priced one did not have liver pate and another ingredient, I can't recall maybe mayo. It took maybe 8- 10 minutes for prep time, though I find the prices a little unfriendly as a difference of liver pate would add 20 pesos to your sandwich, plus the fact they do not have service water. Maybe I'm on the stingy side but their bottled water costs around 45 which seemed too high priced. When I got my Banh Mi, I'd say the filling was generous although, something was missing. The taste of coriander did not linger in my mouth while I was going through my Banh Mi, I'm not sure if I prefer more coriander on my sandwich or the quantity seemed few. The pickled veggies was ok but, it felt overpowering. The strong sour taste did not compliment the rest of my meal. I'd give taste a 3/5. The bread didn't quite pack that mean crunch that I was looking for. Place 3/5, though the interiors were nice my table wasn't quite bread crumb free. Price is 3/5 not bad, not good. Service is another so-so, I don't know, but I can't seem to put my finger on it but let me just say the staff were efficient since I only saw 2 people and they seem to be operating the business quite well. Though they seem too busy. Anyway, price per head is at 200 - 300 pesos.
