Nihonbashi Tei is my default go-to place for good and relatively affordable Japanese food (relative being the operative word). From my experience, good Japanese food generally comes with the price. Sure, good tuna and salmon sashimi can be had in some buffet restaurants. However, for everything else (like good tempura, ramen, etc), you would need to spend quite a bit because the ingredients that make Japanese food good (such as fresh fish and Japanese rice) are either expensive or doesnt store well which adds up to the price. That being said, I generally love most of the food in Nihonbashi Tei. Their makis, nigiris and sashimis are fresh and their tempuras and grilled meats are great as well. Some of their dishes that has some sort of sauce mixed in (such as gyudon, omurice or the itame, however), I find a bit too flavorful for my taste. If there is one thing I think they would need to improve on it would be their service. They are a bit on the slow side, and some of the waitresses tend to forget orders occassionally but that is just mee nitpicking. It wouldnt really stop me for visiting this resto occassionally :)

Spicy tuna sashimi -- Disappointed with the ratio of tuna and mayo. Mayo is toooo sweet. Ask the waitress to lessen the mayo next time. Ebi tempura maki was okay.
No fuss Japanese food. Booked a table via Zomato and reservation was confirmed within 10 minutes. They gave us a VIP room, very nice for small gatherings with family or friends Service is good, food was on the table in 20 minutes for the likes of salmon sushi. I like the toru spicy maki and eel sushi.
