And its so brilliantly restored that it feels like you are living in the house. To my mind the best part is that the owners live in the house and its not some sort of museum. The labour of their love is evident in every detail in the house. Hearing Ruben about the sheer efforts that went into putting this place together makes one realise how difficult it is to restore such an old house. The fact that a priest lived there about 200 years ago makes the whole experience even more surreal. The food itself is out of the world and really, really extensive. I have not ever eaten more authentic Goan food despite having been to the state at least 20 times. Since the food is cooked in the family kitchen, in small portions and by Ruben's wife, it tastes extremely fresh and delicious. They do serve a lot of (bit too many) dishes and one is lost trying to take a bite of everything. The kokum drink they served us before the meal was amazingly refreshing. And the coffee was divine. We roamed around the property after (and before) the meal. You get transported to an entirely different world, and for a few minutes, feel like a Goan village resident. It is a long drive from most part in Goa, especially North Goa. However, its a very beautiful drive and completely worth it. Ruben's hospitality deserves a special mention as he is the perfect host, explaining away minute details while serving dishes that his wife cooks in the family kitchen.
Beautiful renovated home, food was good but chicken we were served was awful. On the whole it is a good afternoon spent with friends!
A labour of love by the present owners . A lovely tour around the interesting and lovely historical home followed by a truly delicious home cooked banquet . Highly recommend this lovely place
My group of friends and I visited this restaurant without much prior research, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Located in a hidden gem in Goa, the restaurant offers a quiet atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery. The owner's passion for the cuisine and sustainability is evident in every aspect of the restaurant. We were treated to a delicious 7-course lunch featuring unique Portuguese recipes made with fresh, natural ingredients. The dishes were beautifully presented in exquisite porcelain and accompanied by soothing music that transported us to another era. My favorite was the cocum sherbet, which I found to be the best I've ever had. I highly recommend visiting this place for a truly memorable dining experience.
