Very busy day, being market day, but worth the wait before you can grab a table. The food was fresh cooked, and we tried out the schnitzels, the sausages, and a fresh herring with salad, my personal favourite if done right, and it was perfect....Does take a little time to come out once you have ordered, but whats the hurry on a sunny day when the beer comes out first ? Only discord we had was Germany still allows smoking outside at tables, which can be a bit off putting while you are eating your lovely meal. This is a shame, but accepted still as normal behaviour here.
The hotel and restaurant is based in the heart of the city from where you can see the market square as well as the mayor's office. Traditional food is served. No haute cuisine but very good standard German food.
We have settled to a table previously occupied by other guests. On the table (whose tablecloth was not with stains) there were also the milk (of their cofee) and their dirty napkins. We thought that the waitress was going to change the tablecloth and eliminate...milk and dirty napkins. After she got our orders as she was leaving without tyding up the table I asked her if she could. She seemed amazed and annoied. She told us I will'. Unfortunately she never came back and asked to a collegaue (very young it semmed to be on his first day) to serve us. I asked also to this person if he could eliminate the dirty fabricks and the milk. Also this boy didn't. He came back in a few minutes and told me 'we are pressed and we can't ! So as they were pressed we ate on a dirty table with dirty napkins and a milk jug... It is a pity because the food was good. I was too much tired to leave the restaurant at that point (and I had two babies that had to eat something), but maybe I had to go straight to the Manager. The bill was not a fast food one, and I think that a client of a restaurant doesn't deserve to eat in a similar condition, moreover being served by a rude waitress (observing her moving in the hall we noted she had problems also with another table...maybe she would have to consider to change job as to face public request another attitude). We have been hosts of the hotel (perfect it is a pity that the restaurant has such a mismanagement.
The evening has invited to eat outside with a view of the marketplace. we have a calf carving and a tomato soup
