Nice three course table d'hote during their low season, so good service, and nice and quiet. Perfect for conversation.
Newly opened restaurant, waiter was quite friendly. We ordered food to share: a pizza, 2 pastas and sandwich between six of us. I was expecting at least a 6 inch pizza, however got a portion that would be equivalent to a slice for pizza. Also, the pizzas are not on authentic bases, they are on pastry sheets, but they were tasty. Their pastas were authentic, would definitely recommend that as portions were good size too. I really liked the restaurant largely due to the ambience.
If you are looking for fresh (nothing frozen) true local cuisine within the quaint little artisinal village of Deschambault-Grondines then look no further! The owner, Mr. Jean-Philipe Alonso and his friendly, attentive and polite staff are very eager to please! Despite the fact that just about the entire staff is completely new to the service industry their inexperience is still quite charming just the same. Each dish is prepared with careful consideration to detail and eye-catching presentation. Don't be fooled by the small portions as they are very flavourful and in the end, oddly quite appropriate. I had the brunch and my boyfriend had a hamburger (200g portion)...see the pics attached to this review. The bread comes from Le Soleil Levain which is the local boulangerie across the street, the cheese from the local Fromagerie in Deschambault and the chocolate from Julie Vachon Chocolats that is nestled inside the P'tit Brulerie right next door. As they just opened only a short 2 weeks ago, Mr. Jean-Philipe Alonso did admit there are still some improvements to be made but they are on their way never the less. If I were to give any constructive criticism though it would be to perhaps...cook the potatoes a bit more as they were a bit too undercooked, offer some sort of vegetables (maybe steamed?) other than repeating the same serving of just green salads and for heaven sakes change that terrible red rose tea for a caliber of real tea that matches the quality of the rest of the menu, perhaps like Camelia Sinensis or at least Mighty Leaf. I'm curious to see how this restaurant progresses in the coming months, even weeks. Congrats and good luck! :)
We were just driving to Montreal from Quebec via Chemin de Roi and stopped at Chez Moi for lunch.
