Just like all the others here, we wanted to get away from the tourist restaurants and try both Januita's and El Pelicano (next door). Both are visited by tourists, but it is a lot of local cuisine. It was so good that we came back twice. Maybe it was the best piece of fresh Mahi I ever had. Very recommended.
Small restaurant easy to overlook, but worth the trip. We had the Calamari Appetizer, very large Calamari rings I was worried would chew, but it was very delicate a delicious. This followed with the fish Diablo (mahi), which was very delicious. In any case it is worth stopping, the view of the sunset over the ocean is an additional plus!
Went on a chartered fishing trip from Playa Herradura and managed to get a few Mahi Mahi. This place will prepare the fish at a very reasonable price when you show up with filets. Great location and good food.
We came on Superbowl Sunday night when there were few other guests. The game was on but not much crowd excitement here. Cocktails were enormous, one of them a mai tai in a glass as big as a baby's head. We started with ceviche, a good serving of fish and shrimp. We asked for the grilled vegetables as a side dish... cauliflower and green beans....they were excellent. We had the lobster tail with lumpy mashed potatoes, also very good. The octopus was delicious, served like a paella with rice, and fries on the side. This is a nice local place with a great vibe. We only had one moment when a trinket-seller came up to our table, but not a big problem. The atmosphere is pleasant and prices reasonable considering the location.
