Bodegon Quinto Jinete

We visited the restaurant after a recommendation from some Italian friends suggesting it prepared the best goat in Puerto Cruz. This was indeed true. The servings size was good and not excessive and the quality was excellent. The pimiento Padron is to be recommended as an appetizer. The service was prompt.

A genuine authentic old world establishment with a warm welcome awaiting visitors. This is a quaint place on the edge of banana plantations. Drinks and food can be served on rustic tables either inside the various small rooms or on a balcony overlooking the plantation. Drinks prices very reasonable typical of a Spanish locals bar and a well priced simple menu. Make a visit for its unique quirkiness away from the tourist establishments but don't expect gourmet food but simple home cooked snacks prepared on an old fashioned open fire otherwise known as the kitchen! Definitely quaint! We were pleased to have learned about the place and included it as a lunch stop on a round trip walk from Puerto de la Cruz along the coastal path to Plaja los Roques and via Calle El Toscal, Toscal La Longuera back to Puerto passing the Lidl supermarket and lunch at Quinto Jinete. A note of caution is needed here because the roads are narrow and care must be taken because there are no foot paths and vehicles need the whole width of the road. Our advice would be to visit during daylight hours. Worth a visit and it was a really good picturesque walk.

We visited this nice place with some friends in February 2015, and wanted a revisit during our two-day stay in Puerto in 2015. Not a place for gourmets or people who love fancy menues, but excellent canarian food prepared in the small kitchen or on the open fire. And very reasonable prices, and only spanish talking people. Here time have been standing still since the 60's! See you next year, too!

We visited Bodegon first time at lunch time to have some light snacks and beverages after a long walk. We found it very pleasant, naturally polite stuff helping us in choosing good tapas. After couple of days we visited Bodegon (Quinto Jinete the 5th Rider) to have a dinner. They opened appr at 7.00 pm. What a tasteful tapas to start and main course (fish, chicken) with nice local red wine and of course some sweeties with dos cafe solos to finalize the dinner. And all this at very low cost! Bodegon is specialized on open fire baroque food, offering also rabbit.

Would I go again absolutely This place was recommended by a local and so had to visit! This place is about a 5 minute taxi ride from Puerto de la Cruz costing about 4euros. Upon arrival it is a simple farm house on the edge of a banana plantation in what feels like the middle of know where! So when entering, it feels like you are sitting in someone living room which can only mean fantastic home cooking! The menu is simple and mainly meat and is all cooked on a wood burning stove, using some sort of bark. I must say I was expecting the food to taste of a BBQ and when it arrived it looked a little burnt! However when biting into it my steak, it simply melted in my mouth and tasted amazing one of the best steaks ever! My group also had the chicken and pork, again cooked perfectly. This is a definite must if you are visiting Puerto you can expect to pay between 8 and 15 euros including wine, which again is very nice. Cannot fault this gem of a find and cant wait to go back Enjoy
