The Big Tomato - Poughkeepsie

Moved out of Poughkeepsie in 1995, came back to town for a visit. Heard on FB people talking about this place so decided to go there. I love nostalgia, and you definitely get that here. It's like stepping back in time!! Nothing fancy, just good ol' mom and pop style place with good, comfort food. I ordered pancakes and side of bacon. Pancakes were huge and the bacon was outstanding! Cooked to perfection. Coffee is a little weak but it will do. There were only a few folks in there so I didn't wait long for my food. The waitress was super sweet and recommended I try one pancake w the blueberries..yum! I loved it here and may even visit again before I head back to Atlanta.

Lived only couple of blocks away from this hidden Poughkeepsie treasure and didn't become a good customer till about six months ago. Many wasted years missing out on this place, I love the food, the ambiance of an old time lunch counter, prices are excellent and if you go away hungry it's only your fault. John and the entire staff are friendly and helpful. Will be coming here for many years to come

Since i was a little kid I've always wanted to go, and today i finally did, the food and atmosphere was fantastic, very friendly people, and i love how the original counter top is still there, faded through the years, and the original grill which serves up some fantastic food , awesome place, i will definitely be back

Wonderful, vintage-style Mom Pop place. Servers are friendly and attentive, and the food was very good. Sitting at the counter and watching the chef work was a blast too. Will definitely be back.

Great place to go to have a meal. Decent prices too with a nice atmosphere too boot.
