Stopped by this place while on a road trip to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. We looked them up online and saw that they had vegan options. We arrived and looked at the menu outside, but nothing was clearly labeled as vegan, only vegetarian. We were pretty sure what items we were going to eat but had a few questions. We entered the restaurant, which was pleasant looking. The woman at the front finished helping another customer and turned to us. My friend asked her “does the pita contain dairy?” To which the woman responded “I have no idea. I really wouldn’t be the person to ask.” We were all confused. My friends said “okay, who would be.” She shrugged and said “google?” At that point we walked out of the restaurant and decided not to eat in a place where that was how we would be treated. It was a shame because after we left, it looked like she was being reprimanded by the owners. Honestly, it was frustrating and disrespectful, and we had driven 20 minutes, paid a toll, and crossed a bridge just to turn around and go right back to find somewhere else to eat.
We ordered the falafel combo platter it was pretty good, falafel was excellent, cucumber salad and dolma were good, hummus was tasty, the rice was okay. Interior of restaurant was spacious and very quiet, maybe too quiet, some music may have helped. Service was excellent owner was there and she was so lovely and proud to feed us. They do have freshly made tahini jarred up front for sale. $8.99 for a huge jar a bargain! The food was good , I would give more stars if there was more variety the vegan options are limited and they are all pretty much the same items, just served in different ways- on a pita, on a platter , or number of falafel varies.
Recently ordered delivery from this restaurant and was shocked to find a cockroach in one of the food items. Like another customer who left a similar review, I was initially only offered a refund for that specific item, despite throwing out the entire order due to losing my appetite. I insisted on a full refund through Seamless and thankfully received it. With years of experience in the service industry, I am hesitant to leave negative reviews, but serving food with bugs is unacceptable and deserving of a warning to other potential customers. Unfortunately, we did not take a photo as we quickly disposed of the bug from our home.
I absolutely love this place. The falafel sandwich is amazing and the hummus is delicious. However, I do wish they would make it clear that their tahini sauce is not vegan, as it contains yogurt. I had asked about the milk content in the tahini but it seems there was a misunderstanding. I was disappointed to discover yogurt in the sauce after ordering it multiple times. Additionally, there have been a few occasions where my order was slightly incorrect or items were forgotten. Overall, just be mindful when ordering if you are vegan and avoid the tahini sauce.
