Acropolis Diner - Poughkeepsie

I’ve been coming here with my partner based off of a recommendation from my mom, and the staff waiting our tables are always super friendly and nice. i love coming here now, the food is always so good too every time we order. definitely

I had a better experience w/ my previous visit's order of corned beef hash eggs, which is suitable diner fare. But I was expecting too much of a Manhattan Kosher Deli experience when I ordered pastrami on rye onion rings, all of which was rather dry and less-than-flavorful for the price. It's nice enough inside the diner, but this time there was an odor of a sewage leak of some kind, stronger near but not directly coming from the bathrooms. If I go to a diner again, I'll keep an eye on the specials, or stick to breakfast food or burgers.

Suggestion, if you put extra things in home fries (peppers and onions), you should say that in your menu because people have food allergies. I paid for an entire meal I couldn't eat one bite of due to the cross contamination. There was also the issue with the waitress who could not stop coughing the entire time we were there. We felt so bad for her, but really if people handling food and greeting people are sick to the point they're coughing as badly and frequently as she was, she needed to call in sick, or at the very least, wear a mask. I'm not a germophobe, it was REALLY bad and went on throughout the entire time we were there.

I've been coming here for 20+ years. The food used to be great along with the service. I now understand why the parking lot is always empty. The food is overpriced for no reason. $4.50 for Pineapple juice. I'd rather make it myself for that price and they charge per take-out container. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. The only good part of my visit was the waitress, she was extremely nice. I miss how it used to be here.

What a gem in the heart of poughkeepsie! Clean, good service, delicious food, and good coffee. Who could ask for more? Prices were reasonable. Portions were generous. And open 24 hours! Dine in or take out. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp access.
