The Royal Kitchen - Portsmouth

This was my first time trying a meal or takeout from this restaurant. I ordered takeout and was very impressed with the service - there wasn't a long wait, even on a Saturday evening. My family agreed that the curry was one of the best we've ever had, so we're definitely planning to dine in at the restaurant in the future. Excellent experience overall.

I haven’t visited this restaurant. In fact I’ve only just discovered that it’s not just a take away. I will be visiting soon. We have, however, had three take aways now and they were all exceptionally good. We have yet to find a dish that falls below par. Last night’s order took a while to arrive but they were very polite and apologetic and the food was still fab. Maybe they need to brush up on organisational matters but honestly, when the food is this good, I’d take quality over a slick operation any day. Having read through some other reviews I noticed a couple suggested that any positive reviews must be friends or family. So, for the record, we are neither. Just very happy customers!

Avoid this mid week if you want a take away, not sure if i want to risk my money on a weekend meal after last nights meal. service was good staff were ok but the food (if you can call it that) is in a class of its own. i had a prawn dansak my partner a prawn biriyani. the prawns were solid. well over cooked. the prawns turned out to be shrimps not prawns. for my dansak it seems like the chef put loads of shrimps into a blender and put them in my dansak to give it a look like it was lintels. no sweet and sour taste and no real heat, my partner describes her meal as totally fxxxing rank. she was surprised because i left 3 quarters of mine because i could not eat it and i Never Never leave food. to sum it up it has to be one of the worst currys i have brought. i love my food and know whats what and this just did not do it in any way shape or form. why do takeaways get bad chefs in during the week. if you want to keep your customers buy proper ingredients and get a proper chef to cook the meals

The restaurant is located among a row of other similar takeaways and restaurants. I had a delicious prawn vindaloo with pilau rice, and the staff were attentive. The prices were reasonable as well. I will definitely be returning in the future.
