The Indian Cottage - Portsmouth

My family have been coming to this restaurant for over years. The food is always of a high standard . I always have the Shashlik Prawn which is not on menu but they always make it for me with no trouble. Tarka dahl and Chanda Massala are very tasty. My year old daughter has taken to their pistachio ice cream. Staff always bend over backwards for us and are very friendly and accommodating. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for an amazing Indian meal.

Put an order in and having to 2 wait over 2 hours is disgusting then when you phone to get told out on delivery then still having to wait another 20 min disgusting, won't be using again

This place has come highly recommended, so tonight was the night we placed our first order for three of us to be delivered. The order confirmation said we would get a call back to take our payment and that delivery would take an hour. The call for payment didn’t come, so I called them and made our payment at which point I was told it would be more like 90 mins. Not a problem. 90 minutes came and went and I called, and called and called. Most of the time the line rang out until it cut me off, on some occasions it went straight to voicemail, and a couple of times they answered the phone and put in on the side so I could wait on the end listening to what was going on in the restaurant without anyone actually talking to me. To cut this story short, after more than two hours we couldn’t get to speak with anyone so we ended up driving to the restaurant to cancel the order and request a refund. The chap in the restaurant originally said we would be refunded at midnight but wouldn’t give us anything written to confirm this, when we pushed back on this he said he couldn’t refund as he didn’t know the password, only when my husband started to get a bit sick of the nonsense and start to lose patience did he agree to refund us in cash. I’m really surprised about the whole fiasco because when we got there the restaurant was half empty! I’m sure the good comments about the food are true, but based on tonight, the delivery service is carnage, the communication is non-existent and the lack of customer service was enough to put me off trying again!

Still waiting nearly two hours after ordering a take away.It will be going straight back when/If it ever turns up.If they can't cope with the workload don't take it on...really pissed off and won't use these ever again...
