Library Restaurant At The Rockingham House

The library was recommended by my son who lives in nh. h and his wife have several een there. we visited them over our high-time trip and I made a reservation for my wife and I. we arrived early and sat immediately. the decor is phenominal and so relaxing and comfortable. we started with bowls of chowder who were excellent. I had the 12 ounce file and my wif a lamb frame with a demi glaze. both were cooked to perfection and delicious. since the menu is a la carte, we chose the kartoffeln au gratin and framed spinich. both were absolutely delicious again. it lived definately up to his call as one of the best steak houses in n h. our server ashley was great! we will defend the nately return, with our son and woman next time

The service was ok. the waitress was rarely there. steak was good, though a bit too expensive. we share 3 pages for two and had loads over good sizes. my soße was forgotten, but we were charged for it being my own fault to say nothing, but that should not happen in this kind of restaurant.

The food was very good, but our server rushed us and picked up our teller as soon as we lay down our forks. the tables were too close together so it was difficult to sit down and then her chair was directly on the adjacent table and hospitable. we saw some other guests leaving the restaurant because the tables were too close together.

Our first trip to Portsmouth, NH great find for a nice quiet restaurant with very good food and service. The ambiance of being in an old library was excellent. Even brought your bill in a hardback book. Very nice and we would return always one of our rating criteria.

Had a fantastic meal...waitress was great...Bartender before dinner drinks and after for a night cap...Kim was awesome...great personality —friendly—-all around great place —
