I love the decor and the vibe of the place was great! People were friendly, though this was an event night. Can't say much about the food and drinks as I just got a ginger ale at some point, but service seemed okay. I vaguely remember the bathrooms were decent.
My husband and I had a nine-hour layover in Porto, so we decided to leave the airport and explore the town. I have to confess that for this layover, we did not plan anything and decided to go wherever out footsteps led us... and that is exactly how we found this gem. I was not feeling well enough from my stomach to eat, but certainly, well enough to drink so when I heard a musician play a Frank Sinatra's song all the way from the outside of the street, I knew I had to go in this joint. I am so so so soooo glad we went in here because it was really one of the coolest bars in our entire Eurotrip. Now, this might not be the fanciest place in town, but its decor and vibe were off the chain. First of all, upon entering the premises, the very first thing your eyes see is a 7 feet tall Silvester the Cat sculpture holding a tuba while squeezing Tweety with his other hand... I mean, is there anything cooler than that???!! The entire bar counted with phenomenal decorations which included two antique cars hanging from a couple of the bar's walls, along with all sort of memorabilia like 80's robots, lunch boxes, old school meat cutters, figurines, and musical instruments. Now, to the drinks! their menu was extensive and their prices were simply THE BEST. They had a lot of offerings made with Port Wine for as low as 2.50 Euros, and most of their drinks did not go beyond 6 Euros. This night though, I went for their Porto Tonico, which was delicious, refreshing and only 3.50 Euros! This drink had Port wine, tonight water, mint and lemon, which was everything my stomach needed. My second drink was a Sangria, which was also very cheap and very strong. Towards the end of our evening here, I started to gain my appetite, and my eyes were immediately fixated on their beautiful desserts fridge. Being the cheesecake lover that I am, I went for their blackberry cheesecake, and I have to say it was one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. Unfortunately, we only stayed here for a few hours since we had to go back to the airport, but wish we had more time to spend here. The atmosphere was great, the servers were super friendly and of course, the live music was the cherry on top. I hope we can go back to Porto soon because this bar will be my first stop!
This is very cool place! Decor is awesome of some historical artifacts. Prices are reasonable. Sangria is a must try!(made with wine whiskey and one other liquor, i forget) Food is very good, salmon and steak are nicely cooked, served as large portions and taste good. Has live music and good one too. Gets packed. You can take a table outside and wait for inside table. Outside is drinks only. Worth a visit.
On the trip in porto, we went to nothing about this place knowing only on the look for a fast espresso before continuing to see. the waitress did not speak English, so we tried to ask her for 2 espresso and she put us on the table. in 5 minutes we got a complete breakfast with an espresso that was shocked for us. but when we tried beautiful rolls and jam, it ended a very beautiful surprise! we were worried about the price, but we only paid €4.40 for two! so definitiw a great value for money, interesting interieur and delicious breakfast
Uno stadio di vera musica da consigliare. spettacolare spettacolo di fado pomeriggio. Buon porto.
