Sol Grill - Portimão

Despite what one might assume from my snake hipped slim figure, I’m never one to turn down a steak. Until tonight that is. Unlike some of the other reviewers on here, I have no quibbles about the service they seemed friendly and agreeable. But the food… My wife had sea bass, which looked like it had been pulled from a burning building, but worst of all was my steak. I’m told that Portuguese steak is served with egg, salad, thinly sliced fried potatoes and ham. What I got was overcooked (and inedible) gristle, all soaked with crisps and a gravy that was so salty I only hope my kidneys survive the night. I’ve had my share of bad restaurant food, but nothing in recent history has come close to this. Vile, inedible food. We skipped desert because I just wanted to get the hell out of there.

Service was impeccable, wine delicious , and food was tasty served with a smile and efficiently. Cannot understand the reviews that rate this establishment less than four , granted it’s not white and shiny , there’s no loud music playing so you can have a conversation and not shout . All in all a great Resturant!

We first came in the restaurant and were treated very coldly by the staff. Ordered a ham and cheese starter which was disgusting it tasted like rubber and mould and we ended up sending it back. I got the vegetarian pasta for the main and it was completely flavourless and tasted horrible ended up sending that back too. My boyfriend got the t-bone steak which came with cold chips. The steak itself was extremely chewy and impossible to cut through. At the end we asked for a discount as we had eaten little to nothing however our waiter was very rude and refused. I advise everyone to avoid this restaurant as they serve overpriced, poor quality meals. Save your money!!!

Desengane-se quem vai deixar de aqui vir a este restaurante pelos reviews negativos. Lembrem-se que as más experiências são aquelas que deixam marca e levam a escrever. Jantei aqui vezes e em todas elas fui muito bem atendido, não esperei muito, a comida muito boa e o staff é top. Em todas as refeições optamos por carne, mas observei muitos clientes tanto a comer peixe como carne e ninguém parecia nada incomodado, aliás vi várias caras repetidas, assim como nós ou seja, as pessoas vão uma duas três vezes e só vai mais que uma vez quem gostou!

2 great visits while on vacation, both meals were fantastic. We ate Shrimp kebab and Portuguese style steak, shrimp pasta and grilled sea bream, also had bolo de bolacha and creme brulee for dessert. Delicious food, friendly staff and great atmosphere.
