Al Mar - Portimão

We have been visiting this area for several years. We happened to spot this on the last evening of a recent holiday. The restaurant is set back from the road, in a corner, and we nearly didn't see it. We looked at the menu board...outside and felt this restaurant was offering some interesting starters and main courses anyone who has been to this area will know how similar the menus look. We looked into the restaurant it looked lovely but there was no one eating there was that a bad sign? But something prompted us to take the chance and we were so pleased that we did. We had a lovely evening delicious food and gorgeous wine and a number of people came in over the course of the evening. We like Portuguese white wines but find it hard to pick one. The man that served us Rodrigo listened to our taste requirements and made a suggestion. It was the nicest wine we have had in Portugal in over 20 years of visiting there. The flavours of the food were very good and nicely presented. It wasn't the cheapest meal we had on this holiday but, for not much more, we had lovely food, in very comfortable and elegant surroundings and faultless service we feel this would cost a lot more elsewhere. Seems they are only open about 6 weeks and are continuing to experiment with the menu. I hope the restaurant does well and, if we are lucky enough to be in Portugal next year, that we can return to this restaurant. They deserve to do well.

Modern looking restaurant,big service,big first meat course samosas, easy spicy mint in a good teig, the non-greasy solid start, gaunting that didn't just look so good, it tasted so good,Butters was on place, but the lamb madras was not where close to make it. the Glasgow version, although I still had it possible to make it Overall, a pleasant curry would recommend, but perhaps not to other glass veins,(if they are a very, very good butter chicken) service very good and welcoming. a good 8/10.

Eating is incredibly full of taste and dishes made on personal flavor preferences. the restaurant is clean, modern and spacious, although easy to pass as it needs an outside shield. here with a large group and between us all, have visited and visited 3 places. it was of a very high quality every time. simply the best Indian in the opposite, highly recommend a visit.

I love eating! cleaner and good looking place, over the street from the beach. great service. try the carrot pudding.
