Restaurante Stop - Portalegre

We were a bit lost when searching for a restaurant in Portalegre and decided to stop at Stop and give it a try. The name in itself didn't inspire any confidence and seeing the restaurant practically empty made us dubious. Still, we were running out of time and we risked going in. The hospitality was above average and service was relatively fast. Convert was basic though we found the homemade bread a bit hard. We all ate a bitoque which is a traditional Portuguese steak with chips and an egg. The meat was tough and the traditional sauce was non present. Very bland and tasteless. To add fuel to the fire, the decor was outdated with old furniture and the restaurant in itself, gave us an uncleansy feel. Prices were reasonable but we were inconvenienced due to the fact that they don't accept payment by debit/credit cards. If we ever visit the city again, this most certainly won't be the next Stop!

Good quality simple Home Made Food Staff helpful. I know a little Portuguese which was good as no English spoken. Restuarant a little tired but don't let that put you off. Toilets ok We had Prato do dia which was excellent. Bifanas com cogumelos mushrooms) Arroz de Polvo octupus) Would STOP here again. €15 for two with water extra for bread or olives.

Awsome. A really nice place to eat good food with good prices. As a sugestion can recomend gaspacho , really good in the summer. Of you 're staying for a long period, talk with the manager and try to get a better deal. They 're quite nice. Excellent on the portions. You 'll get out completely full.
