Once you go through the door, you’re warmly greeted into a bullfighting-themed environment. The menu features delicious bull dishes but don’t overlook off-menu options they might have on the day (the oven-roasted pork chuck was lovey). Prices are below the average for the kind of restaurant and we felt that this restaurant is a very close-knit operation where everyone, staff included, seems to share the same passion for good service and good food. Their description alone sell the dishes. If you’ve never had it, you’re also in for what’s probably the best Pão de Rala I’ve ever tasted.
Excellent from arrival to departure, this is a great restaurant. Located in the old part of town with narrow winding streets that are full of various restaurants, this place is worth visiting. All the staff were good and friendly with a professional flair. The restaurant has a good vibe about itself being small, quaint and homely. The good quality ingredients made for a superb starters, shared between us. For the main courses we had the a pork dish and the local stew recommended by the waiter, again these were excellent in taste, presentation and quality. Plus, they serve the food on hot plates too which I prefer but it is rare that restaurants do this. The restaurant has a decent list of wines and all prices are ok. We went for a very good local Portalgre white at €20/bottle and it was worth it. Overall we rated it 9/10 on our table of 2 and it was good value for money at €89 with 2 bottles of superb white wine to take away and beers.
First of all, make a reservation!!!!!! I was there with my wife, is not a luxury place, but the food... oh the food is amazing. You can experience different types of meat! It was a good place, i will return for sure
Solar is well worth a visit, as the food is amazing. Quite traditional in some sense but with a twist of modern day. A bit pricey, maybe, but still worth it.
Solar is a wonderful find in Potalegre. The food was delicious Paulina, our waitress was friendly and most helpful, and the atmosphere warm and cozy.
