Dick's Cafe - Portage la Prairie

If you are looking for Chinese food in Portage La Prairie, this is an excellent choice. Locals recommended this restaurant to me, and it did not disappoint. Food is tasty, well prepared and reasonably priced. I have enjoyed both the take out and eat in options at this restaurant. The ambience is very retro. The restaurant itself is authenticate back to its roots. The Memories of Portage Facebook has pictures of Dick’s back in the 60’s (courtesy of Charlie Brennan) and the restaurant is almost unchanged. Family owned and staffed, there is a pride in this restaurant that makes for an excellent experience. Highly recommend.

One of the best places to eat in Portage. No buffet, but everything on the menu is great. Get the Golden Chicken!

Note that this restaurant probably has other food that is good. However, be warned to stay away from the Spareribs unless you love an extra large amount of breading tough meat ?. Unfortunately we both ordered this and it did not say in the Menu that they were breaded. I did see yummy looking food at other tables. Will probably never go back to check out the other dishes as I was very sick ? from the spareribs for a few days afterwards.

First time here, even though I pass by it all the time. Very clean inside, excellent service by the nice young lady serving, very good quality food. Huge portions. They were really busy for a Tuesday. Lots of pick up orders. I will be back!

Very good food and friendly helpful service. Their food is delicious and tasty with actually chunks of meat unlike others. You won't regret eating here.
