All hungry but excited at the sight of this ful hall cum dining gallery. The decorative atmosphere competes well with their menu. Local garfish, steak sandwich, lagsanna, pizza and Yiros. To my delight, I have my best Yiros todate with local pork. The pita was fluffy and the pork juicy and tender. Wow! The garfish were polished off quickly and so was the steak sandwich!I had a good look at the hand crafts that decked the hall and bought a few lovely knitted wares. All 12 left happily. And the highlight was the warm hospitality. We rocked up around the kitchen closing time but were just as welcomed. We came from Hong Kong and traveled from Adelaide for a short trip and Salt of the Earth was the higtlight of our trip.
I belong to a local travel group who had booked in to the Salt of the Earth for a ‘Christmas Lunch’.There was a main and a desert: main meal which came out just warm with half the plate covered in salad, one piece of dried up turkey roll meat with potato and pumpkin that tasted like they had been reheated and swamped in garlic! The desert was only slices of tarts/cakes.The meal was very disappointing and would not recommend this cafe.
Read many great reviews about Salt of the Earth Cafe and was keen to try it out. We stopped for breakfast on the way to our holiday at Point Turton. The cafe is a beautiful old historic church which has been decked out to be a cozy cafe. The cafe has many lovely items for sale, lovely arts and crafts and gifts and organic jams etc. They were able to offer me a gluten dairy free big breakfast, it was a big serving and a beautiful home cooked breakfast which was very tasty. The staf are so friendly and can accommodate any dietary requirments. There was also a range of board games which kept our son entertained. Make sure you check out the gallery next door, there were so many beautiful hand made dolls in the 1920's era. What a great place cafe, gift store and gallery, we will definately stop for another meal when we are in the area next.
We enjoyed a stop at this attractive, historic building for lunch. It is situated off the main shopping area with the parking catering for a large caravan. Inside the cafe are plenty of table and chairs and a large array of crafts for sale. We enjoyed a homemade vegetable soup with gf toast and a shepherds pie with potatoe and vegetables, and a cappuccino. Staff were very friendly. Good amount of gluten free options available on the menu.
Went to both the cafe and gallery and found both very interesting. The cafe has locally made jams, preserves and crafts while the gallery had a great collection of hand made dolls, wind chimes and paintings. Both are well worth a visit
