I have to admit, I made my reservation and THEN read the reviews, which really frightened me. However, I ended up having the time of my life at Club Med! The check-in process was smooth...
Club "Med"icine is the best all-inclusive resort in the US! The food is fantastic, and there are countless athletic options available. With three pools and nightly entertainment, there's something for everyone. You can enjoy various aquatic activities, and there's a kids' club too. Highly recommended! If...
The main pool was fantastic and not overcrowded during our visit. There was ample space for all types of guests, from families celebrating birthdays to couples like us. Everyone had enough room to enjoy the pool, especially since the kids' pool area was still open, allowing families to spend some time there and keep the main pool less crowded. While there were plenty of loungers available, they could use a thorough cleaning. I flipped mine over and ended up switching to another because the first had leftover sunscreen stains from previous visitors. The check-in process was quite frustrating; it was one of the worst aspects of our visit. We arrived around 10:30 and weren’t checked in until after 11:00. There was only one person handling check-ins at that time. I understand from other reviews that this is typical, but it could definitely be improved—perhaps by having someone available earlier than just the night staff. When we arrived, there were at least four couples ahead of us, and by the time we checked in, four more couples had lined up behind us. Once we were checked in, everything else went smoothly. Snacks were brought to the pool by the staff, and we enjoyed our drinks. Just keep in mind that their liquor is on the lower shelf, so you'll have to pay extra for premium options. Some of the bartenders were great, especially one who worked in the early morning with Joaquin. However, we encountered Ashley in the afternoon, and I must say she was not good—she skimped on the liquor. Our margaritas tasted more like lime and cheap mixer rather than anything substantial; I would be shocked if she used a full ounce of tequila in them. Avoid her if you can. As for the food, lunch was the highlight, and the white chocolate bread was a delightful treat—definitely the best dessert offered. The snack service from the little stand by the dining area was good, but dinner was just mediocre. The snapper fillets were a little dry, which is expected with buffet-style dining where keeping fish warm can be challenging. We also enjoyed the kayaking and paddleboarding. We walked past the jet ski rentals and other amenities, which require an extra fee, but there was no one available to assist or answer questions. There was a phone number to call, but after speaking with someone the night before to get pricing, we decided it wasn’t worth the cost. Overall, my husband and I agree that we will definitely return, but we might wait until the renovations are complete. Hopefully, they will continue to offer day passes after the renovations are finished.
While the Sandpiper Resort had its unique quirks, my partner and I truly enjoyed the value we received during our stay. The food was delicious, the drinks were plentiful, and the amenities provided us with plenty of entertainment throughout the weekend. Joaquin and Ashley were absolutely fantastic bartenders, and we appreciated being able to engage in conversation with them without any awkwardness. The Sandpiper could use a little tender loving care, but if you can overlook the minor issues, it's a lovely place for a getaway.
