Unfortunately, being a small restaurant with hard floor surfaces and glass on three sides they are victims of their own success when they fill it.
Set beneath the trees at the lighthouse caravan park on Matthew flinders drive, this place is a hidden e gem, great staff, inexpensive meals and byo. It was great to sit in this restaurant and be able to talk to those at the table without The background noise, easy parking
The Village Cafe has a great warm atmosphere. We go there every Wednesday with friends, it's a place where you can casually dine with friends, hear each other speak or just have a quiet family dinner when you can't be bother cooking- it's perfect for our 5 year old, great healthy kids menu options. The food is sensational and love steak night, best mushroom sauce ever!!!. It's not pretending to be fine dining (but beautiful presentation) and you don't pay a fortune for fine food in a warm casual and spacious environment.Lovely and helpful waiters and waitresses - what a team! Thanks to who ever runs the place, it's fantastic and thanks for your reasonable BYO - other places charge through the roof! See you again next week!
Five of us sat down for a meal this Saturday night. We are all locals and had eaten there before. I happily ordered the signature dish of Thai green curry, $22 with and extra $5 for prawns. When it arrived it looked very watery. In fact, the plate was swimming in watery, very runny liquid, with a handful of green vegetables, a few prawns and a cup of rice to one side. I ate one spoonful, and I spoke to the waitress, as it was not right. I have lived and worked in Asia, and have family in Thailand, so I am used to Thai food, in particular, the green curry. This was not Thai green curry as it should be. The waitress said that she would take it back to the kitchen and see what could be done. She returned with the plate, and said that it was how they served it. She did offer to "drain it". I was not happy with this, so she asked if I would prefer another meal. I said that I would have the pasta. She asked if I wanted the Thai green curry put into a container.......which I refused. It was unpleasant. She went back to see the manager, and when she returned she said I could have the pasta at half the normal price, but I would have to pay for the Thai green curry too. Yes, I would have to pay for the meal I could not eat, and half the cost of the one that I was expected to order. This seemed very unfair, and the other four guests at the table agreed that it was not right. I was unhappy about this, and decided that the evening meal had been ruined by the poor meal and poor customer service. So unhappy, in fact, that I apologised to my four friends, left the restaurant, and went home to eat. I have never walked out of a restaurant without eating a meal before, and I have never written a negative review before. Please be warned!
This Restaurant has country kitchen style feel/atmosphere and a very pleasant place to dine either inside or outside on verandah. Value is very good, Menu range includes GF options and should suit most dining tastes. BYO and no corkage was a bonus. Staff were courteous and attentive. Service comfortably timed from order to serving. Food presentation and quality was excellent. Open for lunch and dinner Wed to Sat only. Need to book and suggest dining earlier rater than later times. Can highly recommend for quality/value diners/travellers but not for those seeking a fine dining venue.
