Cocktail and beverage menus were presented first...a mind boggling extensive list of wines from around the world. Be prepared to let the moths out of the purse! We both chose the same dishes and judging by our reactions, we chose well. First course was the most delicious unctuous strip of pork belly treated with Japanese flavours accompanied by a crunchy " granola"... a master stroke, the crunch was lovely. Next came the Glacier 51 Toothfish . A sublime treatment, once again with Japanese flavours in a broth to die for. Simple clean flavours were perfect for this unusual fish likened in my opinion to a " steak of the sea" ...thick but tender and oh, so delicious. We declined dessert, wanting the deliciousness of the Toothfish to linger on. Of worthy mention was James, our waiter this night. He was observant as to just when our glasses needed filling, engaging and extremely knowledgeable as to how our dishes were prepared. We really appreciated this being keen cooks ourselves. We look forward to returning to The Stunned Mullet though be warned chef David Henry and James, this sublime dining experience will be hard to beat!!
A wonderful experience - unlike many city restaurants, the focus here is on the customer. a professional approach to ensure the customer has a great experience and goes home happy. The difference between Automata where i'd eaten a couple of nights earlier and Paper Daisy where I ate the night after was quite marked - at these, you felt you should be privileged to dine in such wonderful places, at the Stunned Mullet, every effort was made to give the best in customer service. The food is special, the Glacier Toothfish, while expensive, is a knockout dish that is a must. What made the night even more special was the wine list which has to be one of the best you will find anywhere. As a solo diner so often, I struggle to find options to buying a full bottle that I don't want to drink in its entirety - here I didn't have one or two choices, I had a myriad of options all good.Great location, opposite the beach and just a few metres from the Observatory so easy to walk to and from dinner.
My husband & I stopped here for lunch on our way down to the Blue Mountains. Fabulous restaurant, delicious food, excellent service & a beautiful view. Such a pleasure dining here. We were actually going to stop in here again on our way back home to Brisbane but, unfortunately, we were unable to make it. We are planning to come back again some time in the near future though.. that Toothfish is on my wishlist! Thanks for a gorgeous lunch!
Visited here on a Saturday night and they squeezed us in with very little notice. The service was excellent and informative. The recommendations for food and wine were spot on. The wine being important as we are a couple who only one of us drinks wine so the choices are at times somewhat limited, however the wines by the glass and the half bottle choices were brilliant. In the end service in a regional part of the world like you would expect in any top metro dining experience. Will be back for sure.
We had dinner here last night and were very happy we did. Very friendly and efficient service and the choice of food was outstanding. I had the toothfish which was fabulous while my wife had the soufflé which she really enjoyed. Good selection of spirits and wines. Would recommend and will go again when in the area .
