It's still just a shocking hotel, trying to run a decent cafe, and failing. 3 attempts to get the coffee I ordered and the result was bleak, with cheap and nasty beans and poorly trained barista. Asking about bread options using sign language and attempting to explain english meant my poached eggs came on un-toasted bread. egg fine but how hard is this???
I mistakenly gave this a second go after a rather pricey and disappointing take away chai latte and protein ball that left me feeling somewhat violated after being charged $10.50. We picked a morning that would be quiet as I would be taking my baby. We were the only people sitting inside and there were two tables outside, one of which appeared to have been served. This place is for you if you like:- Dirty tables- Luke warm coffee and hot chocolate- No sugar offered or on the side of your coffee- Getting your coffee quickly then waiting at least 20 - 30 minutes in a deserted restaurant to get your breakfast only to find out they've missed your side order- COLD hollandaise sauce on your eggs benedict- Garnish of sprouts (the 90's called and wants them back)- Ask to look at a lunch/ dinner menu and never was given one- Tacky fake flower decor We didn't enjoy our experience at all. Upon telling staff all they could do was apologise but didn't want to believe the drinks were luke warm and take the side off our bill. With the amount of staff there on the day (we counted 4) with pretty much no customers how the service, wait time and quality of the food was so disappointing is beyond me. The staff seemed to have plenty of time to talk and laugh amongst themselves though? I'd hate to see this place busy, it would be like watching an episode of faulty towers.
We booked, but probably not necessary, as there were plenty of tables. Inside and outside dining. The air conditioning is quite cold, so bring a cardy if inside. It does feel like you are elsewhere than the Pilbara! The service was a little slow at the beginning when we were standing there. Eventually, one staff member looked up and acknowledged that they had seen us. The food was quite tasty. Lots of yummy cream sauces though. There are salads with chicken and squid dish if not liking the sauces. Also haloumi vegie stack meal available. One of our party had a steak that was supposed to be medium, and was more on the rare side. Lots of potatoes. Garlic bread was nice. Service was quick once we were seated. This is BYO place. There is cakes in display cabinet and coffee for afters if desired. A popular place for breakfast. Take away coffees available here. There are stools and bar which looks out the window. Looks out over the scrubby sand dunes, birds can often be seen here.
I went to this cafe with my partner for the brunch and it was delicious !There are a lot of vegetarian options which is really nice.I chose the pancakes and he took a bruchetta with poached eggs and loads of vegetables. The staff is really nice, dynamic and positive !The atmosphere in general was great :)Fabien
