Often call into Port Elliot during winter time to have a look for the whales and enjoy a bit of wild weather along this bit of coast. Although Port Elliot is a small seaside town it does have several good eating spots and also for coffee. The Retro Vibe is slightly away from pubs and eating houses as you head south along The Strand towards the ocean... not a grand place from the outside so that's why you can easy miss it. Stepping inside is a "step back in time" vinyl records a quietly playing, laminex tables 1960's chairs and an eclectic assortment of all sorts of unusual furniture. The food is first class, fresh and delicious as is the service.. happy smiling faces, and nothing is too much trouble. We left there feeling really happy that we had found the place and that we were made to feel so welcome.
Another luncheon with the girls from work, along with their partners. Booked into the Retro Vibe Cafe at Port Elliot on the verandah outside looking down The Strand (main street). Lovely and warm with the sun shining and protected from the wind. The menu is limited with quiches & salad, fritatta & salad, toasted sangas, hamburgers, hot dogs etc. and an all day breakfast. Nice retro feel including the background music (played on EP record player), the menu and even down to the curled butter. The coffee great and choice of cake was delicious. Quality of food was wholesome and homemade, clean and presented well. There are also plenty of Vegetarian and gluten free options. After speaking to the group we really enjoyed the WONDERFUL service and look forward to our return. Thanks so much for a wonderful luncheon :)
We've visited the Retro Vibe several times on various bike rides from Goolwa and find the deck a fantastic place for a coffee and cake. Fast friendly service, cool eclectic decor and plenty of space nearby to park the bikes.
Popped in part way back to Victor Harbor on a Victor Harbor to Goolwa round trip on our bikes. Second time in 12 months been there. Both times staff were warm and welcoming. Coffee excellent- both decaf and full strength. I had retro chicken toasted wrap, hubby BLT burger style. Both had tender, moist meat and good flavour from the sauces, which were a subtle complement to the main ingredients. Very easy to become ensconced in the magazines and papers whilst nestling in the comfortable lounge chairs. Definitely a nostalgic nod to the homes of the past, with delectable food to boot. Will definitely return.
