Nuovo Caffe Stelutis - PONTEBBA

Nuovo Caffè Stellutis is a typical Italian bar in the center of Pontebba. This establishment has a substantial outside seating area, where you can have a nice sit-down to watch Pontebba street life. The hospitable owner serves good coffee and delicious tramezzini , but white wine or Crodino can be ordered as well. In short a traditional Italian bar where sometimes time stands still for a short while. Possibility of parking at a short distance, but parking disc is necessary till 13.00 hrs, free parking in a parking lot just over the bridge.

In my previous review I made clear that I didn't think much of Stelutis, with its uninviting front at the shadow side of the Pontebba main square. Would Stelutis be a competitor to the bars with inviting outdoor seating areas at the other side of the square? During my visit to Pontebba in May 2017 I had to revise my opinion completely. Now Stelutis had also a very inviting outdoor seating area and the front of the café seemed to have lost the grim impression. Furthermore, the service of the staff was quick and polite. The waiter (I surmise the owner) was very on the job to make us at home in the outdoor seating area. Furthermore, the quality of the coffee and sandwiches were above suspicion. Yes. Nouvo Caffè Stelutis has grown quickly into a serious competitor on the Pontebba square. To be recommended.

Nuovo Caffe Stelutis has the disadvantage that it is located on the shade-side of the square, opposite the Cafe Alla Posta and bar Patio de Cuba, where the outdoor tables in the sun beckon to take a seat. As dedicated TA reviewer I visited Nouvo Caffe Stelutis all the same and found that the ice cream didn't add significantly to the attraction of this bar. There is no particular reason to prefer this bar above the competition except maybe the polite service of the staff. A three point rating.

Sono in ferie a Pontebba e ci faccio colazione quasi tutte le mattine, i cornetti vengono riempiti al momento con i dosatori, sono buonissimi e se volete invece il salato fanno anche panini con affettati ovviamente del posto, ho assaggiato entrambi e continuerò a farci colazione fino all'ultimo giorno!!!

We knew Stelutis for many years already as a nice bar with a spacious outdoor seating area, where you can get good coffee and tasty tramezzini for a reasonable price, with pleasant and quick service from the staff. Many times we would break our journey along the SS13 in Pontebba to have a soothing sit-down at Stelutis and watch Pontebba street life. But this time a pleasant surprise. We spotted cannoli in the counter display and couldn't wait to order a couple. They were delicious.
