Le 11 - Pontchâteau

We bumped into it by chance while looking for a nice place to grab lunch into the sleepy villages along the highway. We had a light lunch of goat cheese salad and indulged in an excellent café gourmand (coffee served with a selection of cakes, sorbet etc... . The menu otherwise offers about 3 choices of starters, main dish and dessert. The service was friendly, the interior decoration of nice, simple, modern, taste. Huge parking area just nearby. We would go again.

We made a lunch stop here after an overnight ferry and drive to La Rochelle after selecting it from the Michelin guide. An unassuming shop frontage in the centre of a typical rural town belies the excellent cuisine and efficient but attentive service. Our waitress spoke enough English to get by in combination with my basic French but the owner is fluent. Many locals were dining here at the time of our visit which is a sign of the extremely good value and a testament to the consistency of the food and service. A real gem and their owner and chef deserves every accolade.

La déco est raffinée et le personnel très agréable. Dans l'assiette, c'est un vrai bonheur aussi ! J'y retournerai !
