Sotavento - Playa del Carmen

Horrible experience, sat at our table for 20 minutes with no acknowledgment or even water. The place was not busy and many employees were readily available and seen chatting away as we were willingly there to spend several hundred dollars on a meal along with drinks. The resort is beautiful but this restaurant was a big miss. Such a huge disappointment as we were hoping to see this place live up to its reputation, the single worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The vibes and location are nice but the staff is horrible.

Cute resto on the beach with feet on the sand. The food was delicious. It’s overly expensive for what it is. Dinner for two with 1 app, muscles, chicken, 1 dessert, water. No alcohol, $150 before tip.

$50-$60 fish that comes wildly overcooked? This should never happen in a restaurant that pretends to be high end and charge accordingly. There were other service issues. Overall, poor experience that I would not repeat.

Muy linda experiencia. La comida estaba rica, el servicio impecable. Consideren que esta dentro de un hotel (Maya Koba) y es un poco engorroso llegar al restaurante. Esta frente a la playa, estilo BBQ, platos con elaboraciones muy bien pensadas. Mi único comentario es que es excesivamente caro, para lo que es. En una cena básica, es decir, ostiones de entrada, un plato principal cada uno, bebida y postre, $272.00. Un lujo y bueno para una ocasión muy especial.

Amazing food and service! The place was a dream. I'll go back and recommend it for special occasions and romantic dinners.
