HC de Monterey - Playa del Carmen

I started to go back here recently and really the quality of their eating and friendly service. they also have an air conditioning system and the place is rarely crowded as. the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the steaks...either rare or well done. they seem to have a hard time to cook a medium steak.

I tried her other location before, but it was a few years. the arracherra was as good as I remembered. I ordered the kartoffel and the wobbles were grilled and tasty and the steak was so tender. we also have. guac and chips, but we probably didn't need that. there were only a few chips that were not enough for all guacamole. the service was attentive, but it was hot inside. the terrace must have been hotter. the one thing I thought was strange that they accused us for the butter for our kartoffel. that should be included. it was not much, but it is just the idea (especially since we skipped the acid cream). last time I was there, I remember that it is super cheap because it is a place where locals go, but the prices were comparable to 5th avenue.

If you are ever near Playa Del Carmen this is a must visit restaurant. If you are on an all inclusive resort you must venture here for one amazing meal. We have taken two groups of friends here and both times they were afraid of...the initial appearance and the walk off the beaten path. But, once the food came everyone agreed it is the best steak they ever had. Get the Aracherra and you will be amazed by the tenderness and flavor. One person with us doesn't like steak, so they ordered chicken and they even said that was great. To top it off they relied a bite of someone else's aracherra and said they wish they would've ordered that instead of chicken. I have eaten Aracherra at many restaurants and this is by far the best that I have tried. The waiters, cooks and all workers are very friendly as well. Dont let the location scare you and go eat the best Aracherra (steak) you will ever have. We will visit here everytime we come back to the area.

Tasty food, although we're not sure what we actually ordered. Very busy and great aroma from meat cooking on skewer. Very clean. Efficient service.

The location listed at the top of the page for this restaurant is incorrect. H C. de Monterrey is actually located on Calle 1 Sur between Avenidas 20 and 25 Sur. Given the lack of recent posts it looks like this restaurant remains a “hidden...gem” known mainly to locals. I hadn’t returned there for my “arrachera fix” for nearly a month, so it was time. I always intend to try something else on their menu, especially the steak, but I can never get past the Arrachera National Plate without salivating in anticipation. The plate consists of Arrachera cooked however you prefer, choice of a potato or onion “al carbon”, half an avocado, roasted jalapeno, tortillas, lemon, sour cream and salsa. I always order the plate with the potato but then also order the onion love those veggies al carbon – there is so much food that I can’t eat it all and take half of it home to enjoy for lunch the following day. Go early – maybe for a late lunch or an early dinner as it’s always full in the evenings. You know when a restaurant is frequented by the local Playenses it’s got to be good as well as reasonably priced.
