Mumtaz Indian - Plano

Quick buffet with attentive service. I visited for lunch with a friend and really enjoyed this cozy buffet. I'm not very familiar with Indian cuisine, but everything I tried was delicious, and the place was clean and well-maintained. I will definitely return to see what new items they have on the buffet!

Pros: - Excellent service - Amazing food (without a doubt, the best saag paneer around) - Inviting atmosphere (with enjoyable music, although I do miss the classic TV shows they used to air. Maybe they could add another TV showing Star Trek: TOS?) Cons: - None!

The most significant issue was the lack of flavor in the food; everything seemed just cooked without any seasoning. The naan appeared to be frozen and was simply toasted in a conventional oven. The desserts were also underwhelming. The only item I genuinely enjoyed was the seekh kabob, which I suspect was also frozen. As for the chicken tikka, I haven’t found any place that gets it right, so I can’t offer any suggestions there. One improvement I would recommend is to include descriptions for the dishes, as many of the patrons I noticed weren’t Indian. This would help those unfamiliar with the cuisine understand what they’re trying. Indians may recognize the dishes, but others may be confused. Overall, I don’t plan on returning anytime soon.

I flew back from Baltimore for Easter and had my Easter dinner at Mumtaz! There truly isn't a better Indian restaurant out there; Mumtaz sets the standard for all others! Friends, every time I return to Big D, I'll be sure to visit. Much love!
