Umi Japanese Restaurant - Pittsburgh

We had a great experience in umi because our server, larry, was amazing. the bill was much too high and the mark on the snake and other alcohol was astronomic. Eat was good, but it seemed like 90% of what we were serving had come with a sweet sauce and I am not used to that with raw fish. as I said, larry made the at night edible, but in general, the value was only not there for the (smoking) price that we paid, even though good quality, but moderate tasting sashimi.

It was a great experience to eat the japaners for the first time!

We have the 11 cursor days. the portions were very small, as itty bitty small. the fish seemed fresh. the soße on each cure seemed to be the same each time. for the price we expected a “knock your socks” from experience and unfortunately this did not happen. if they like to go for a chic evening meal, where they will leave with a full booze and a huge smile, this cannot be their place. the atmosphere was very illuminated and romantic. the waitress was attentive and informative. we felt like for the money, we have very little. the 11 curs should contain suppe and salat. I guess they pay for the experience. stay with the capital grille.

Incredible experience. each plate was absolutely delicious, fresh and super prepared and presented. our server was wonderful, friendly and informative on every dish. a great night out and we hope to eat here again in the future.

We ordered the 7 course Omakase meal and were not disappointed. The preparation of the fish was detailed. The fish was fresh and delicate and the flavors were exceptional. The service was fantastic and the ambiance was relaxing although not well lit. The music playing in the background was upbeat and modern. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on your meal, but it is worth the experience.
