We arrived at Pisa and were hungry so we stopped here. We ordered a pizza and spaghetti bolognese. The pizza was really hard to cut and there were 3 mushrooms LOL. The spaghetti was not well cooked and the bolognese was inedible!!! Don’t go there you will be disappointed for sure!!
Let me preface this as I had a difficult time locating it for TripAdvisor. There is a larger place called Lo Sfizio, and I think they own this place too at any rate, as doubtful as some are about it, it DOES exist, and I had a very nice pizza there. I was in Pisa for one day only about three weeks ago, on a very rainy day. I had visited Pisa before, so I hadn 't the need to see the Torre Pendente, but did remember a very student oriented district on and near the Borgo Stretto, so during a break in the rain I took myself there mid afternoon. I was extremely hungry and found this Gelateria on Via Oberdan. If looks can judge quality, the gelato at Antica Gelateria must be delicious. When you walk in the door there are 4 or 5 tiny tables on the left, and on the right a beautiful gelato bar, with, when I entered to beautiful young women tending it. If you turn around at the cashier desk you will see another small room, but a bit more comfy, with more seating for gelato. Upstairs there is another area, from which you can see the floor below, with six or seven tables more suited for dinner. This was where the young women directed me, and shortly after I sat (there was only one young couple up there as well. I sat as far away as possible to give them privacy brought a menu. There was a wide variety of pizza to choose from, and I ordered the Capricciosa, along with a mixed salad, a glass of tasty Nero d 'Avola, and a bottled water to go with it. Not long after I was brought a wonderful looking pizza with mushrooms, lots of parma style ham and my favorite artichokes along with tasty olives. It tasted as good as it looked., the salad was fresh and just right, and as noted the wine, a large glass, was yummy. In short I had a delicious full meal upstairs at the the Antica Gelateria. I realize that there are a lot of restaurants in Pisa, but this one was in a neighborhood I had enjoyed before, across the street from a charming arcade, and I was very happy with the meal. When I went down to pay the bill the young women had been joined by a third, and the one who had served me was heading off with her handsome boyfriend (ah well, all a 68 year old can do is dream, right? . The others were teasing her and her beau, and included me in the fun rather than summarily grabbing my money. I felt welcome in the place, and was very pleased with my food. My only regret is that I was too stuffed to try their great looking gelato! Have a look, and better, have a taste of the gelato certainly, but don 't be worried that a gelateria will not have good pizza this one DOES!
This pavement establishment looked really nice outside with an attractive setting and a satisfactory welcome, but the service was slow and the food was awful. Stay at home in UK for a decent Italian meal. We wanted an early evening meal before heading to airport to fly home. We would have got a better and cheaper snack with Easyjet.. The glass of Proseco to start was nice but very expensive. This was our second bad experience in Pisa..lunch was even worse at another establishment. How can Italians do food so badly in their own country? We did not have time to complain and get a replacement as we had a plane to catch.
We have been there for lunch. We ordered a Pepperoni Pizza and a Tagliatelle Funghi pasta! Very delicious! A little touristic but good enough! The waitress was very polite and friendly! We ordered a beer too and we paid 20,50€ total. Very nice position and outside seating area!
