Canessa - PIOMBINO

After a morning on the nearby beach we arrived at the restaurant without a reservation at 2pm on a sunny Sunday. The place was full but we were told by a very helpful man that there may be a table for us within 30 minutes. We parked in the restaurants free car park which was helpful and took a seat at an outside table on the balcony and looked at the fabulous view (not a bad place to wait! After only 15 minutes we were taken to a perfect table, right by the open window overlooking the sea and more of that wonderful view. Service was quick and helpful, online menu had English translation which saved us asking lots of questions or resorting to google translate. We both had a main course and shared a pudding. The food was excellent and this is not a phrase that I would use lightly, fish cooked to perfection, interesting and amazing flavours and all beautifully presented. Wine by the glass very reasonably priced and delicious. There was some confusion with the bill as we left but it was all dealt with extremely well. I would highly recommend anyone who like fresh fish and great cooking to go here if you are in the area. In fact if you aren’t in the area it’s worth going to the area specially! Thanks to all the staff and the chef. It was a very memorable lunch.

The best place in the region! Go here to taste the best prepared fish and pasta’s. Big compliments to the chef and his crew. Great place to visit when you like good food.

Excellent restaurant with great food. Service depends on who you approach. Service is fast. The menu is only QR accessible which for me for what is proposed as a classy restaurant is very unclassy. I want to read a real menu to select my food. When it is a hot clammy evening the restaurant is uncomfortable as there are no ventilators

For many years I frequent populonia and the gulf of baratti but for various reasons I had never tried the restaurant canessa. I have to say it was a good discovery. with the gift of synthesis I sum up my fantastic location review, you like a really wonderful view. simple service but very nice and pleasant, precise and professional. dishes well made with the right innovation, good portions honest price. really a good experience, a sin that the local will be closed from November to spring. I hope next year, when I get back to the reeds, to find all this.
