The County Canteen - Picton

I enjoyed my first visit so much I came back with friends when I was back in the county a couple months later. There are vegetarian options and a nice selection of local beers. Both inside and outside at the front are comfortable and provide different experiences. Service both times was friendly and fast.

A quaint and cozy restaurant. It's my first time visiting Picton and coming to this place for early dinner concluded the day in a positive way. This is a perfect place to have a family restaurant experience. I had the brisket chili and the apple cinnamon cheesecake! 10/10

We are away for a girls weekend in Picton. I had tried calling this restaurant a few days in advance to make reservations for us (4 people) for dinner was spoken quite rude to as the girl rudely informed me they don’t take reservations. Which is of course fine but her tone and her short snarky attitude wasn’t appreciated. We decided to go and see if we could get a table at 8pm on Friday night. You have to stand outside to wait to be seated. There was 1 table of 4 inside that we could see that was empty but hadn’t yet been cleaned off, and 1 empty clean booth outside on their heated patio. A blonde server made eye contact with us at least twice, while another male server came outside and walked by us to tend to his table and we were totally ignored. It’s like we were honestly invisible. After about 5 minutes of this we left. We really wanted to try it because the food photos looked great, but glad we didn’t because of the obviously rude wait staff.

Service was a bit slow. It took a long time (more than 5 minutes) for someone to acknowledge me at the door waiting to be seated and there were empty tables. I ordered the wings and they were alright.

Thoroughly enjoyable place with attentive staff, an inviting ambience (with some cheeky humour in the bathroom), and good food! Atleast the steak and frites and fish n chips that my family and I ordered were very tasty. Highly recommend this place for a meal whenever a visit to Picton in PEC is happening!
