Sakura Sushi Japanese - Pickering

I recently had the pleasure of take-out at Sakura Restaurant, and I am absolutely thrilled to share my exceptional experience with the world. From start to finish, everything about this restaurant exceeded my expectations. They were patient, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about my likes, dislikes and dietary restrictions to ensure I would be satisfied with my food order. It is clear that the team here takes great pride in delivering top-notch service and you can tell the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. Each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with flavour, and beautifully presented. One of the standout aspects of Sakura Restaurant is the owner's kindness and attentiveness. It is rare to encounter an owner who is so hands-on and genuinely concerned about their patrons' happiness. It is disappointing however when reading some of the other reviews that they are giving a 1 star rating, solely based on Sakura being take-out service only at this time. It is clearly listed on their website.

I used to love this place .... the sushi and sashimi was among the best in the Durham region, and the interior was so relaxing. I haven't been there since the pandemic. When I arrived, I was shocked to find the beautiful dining room closed, standing empty, and service for takeout only. The pandemic is over, so this was really sad. We went elsewhere, as we wanted to eat out. Most of the 5 star reviews are pre-pandemic.

We have ordered sushi from here a number of times, and we have yet to be disappointed! The rolls, hand rolls etc are so big and delicious, you are definitely full after eating here! Don’t be discouraged by the prices, ALL the food here is worth every penny!

Used to be my favorite sushi place in Pickering and haven't gone back for almost 2 years. Decided to have this for our Anniversary dinner. We ordered Beef Teriyaki bento and kimchi fried rice as it was my favorite order next to the sushi love boat. To my dismay, the quality is not the same as before : I'm so sorry to write this review but I felt my $40 went down the drain. The kimchi fried rice was filled with frozen veggies corn, green bean, peas and carrots) and the rice was a very tiny portion that is not a good type of rice! It was filled with fresh cabbage and kojujang but alas, not a single kimchi at all! The beef used in the bento, was almost like pork. I was expecting the beef strips they had in the past, almost like korean bulgogi but sweeter. Only the miso soup and the japchae were cooked to perfection and salad dressing was just same as before but the rest including the tempura were a waste! Not to mention they gave us both soy sauce for the maki and tempura : sooo disappointed. Seems the chef must have changed or the management.

A lovely family run sushi restaurant with amazing fresh food and friendly service. Just as good in 2022/23 as ever!!
