Beautiful pre-Civil War era home named for Charles G. Learned who moved to the property in 1859. He was a prominent businessman who built additions onto the property. It is now a bed breakfast named after President James Garfield a friend of the Learneds and frequent guest. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
Had dinner there on Father's day, a bit pricey and not much variety. I don't think they'll get many locals there, maybe vacation people.
First time staying there felt like home. The owner Theresa was a great host . will recommend others to stay there. Was an awesome time to exspences history .
If you are fortunate enough to find yourself in Port Austin, Michigan, do not miss this gem. Our stay in this 1831, yes a 190 year old bed and breakfast, was absolutely wonderful. Even though the Inn was full the rooms were quiet, clean and peaceful. And the breakfast would challenge the finest hotel...
